Samsung announced the integration of the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature into its Samsung Health Monitor application, accessible to Galaxy Watch users.

This novel feature, in conjunction with the app’s current Blood Pressure and Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring features, aims to provide users with a comprehensive understanding of their cardiac health, particularly in identifying atrial fibrillation (AFib), a typical heart rhythm disorder.

The IHRN feature is now available in the Galaxy Watch series, which consistently tracks the heart rhythms of users via the BioActive Sensor of the watch. If the sensor identifies a series of irregular heart rhythms, the Galaxy Watch notifies the user about potential AFib activity.

The user is prompted to perform an ECG with their watch, enabling a precise evaluation of their cardiac condition. The combination of IHRN with other health features like Blood Pressure and Heart Rate monitoring provides users with a comprehensive understanding of their cardiovascular health.

Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a type of irregular heartbeat that increases the chances of stroke, heart failure, and other severe cardiovascular issues. AFib usually doesn’t show symptoms, making it hard for individuals to identify their risk. The IHRN tool is a step forward in addressing this problem, providing users with the ability to track possible warning signs in real time, thereby decreasing the risks associated with AFib.

The functionality is now available on the newly released Galaxy Watch7 Ultra, Galaxy Watch7, and previous models such as the Galaxy Watch6, Watch5, and Watch4 series. Users can easily access the IHRN feature by updating the Samsung Health Monitor app from the Galaxy Store and enabling it in the app’s settings.

Besides IHRN, Galaxy Watch wearers can take advantage of other heart health features offered by Samsung’s BioActive Sensor, including on-demand ECG recordings and an HR Alert feature that detects abnormal heart rhythms. The comprehensive suite of heart health monitoring features on the Galaxy Watch makes it an essential tool for individuals aiming to maintain their cardiovascular health.    Read More
